Capital of the Republic of Latvia

The magnificent Dome (Cathedral) of Riga (Evangelical Lutheran Church), dating back to 1211 , the largest church building in Latvia.

The famous 14th century "House of the Blackheads" (right) at Town Hall Square.

It once housed a guild of unmarried merchants.

The "Big Guild," now Concert Hall,  (right) in downtown Riga.

The Goethe Institute near the Roman-Catholic Church and Parliament.

View towards the Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral; white building in front: Latvian Museum of Architecture..

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, built in the 13th century.

St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, dating back to the 13th century.

I visited Riga in December 2006.
