Hayriye is a small Georgian village near the town of Inegöl in the province of Bursa. Hayriye was founded by my ancestors who migrated from the Georgian Back Sea region to Turkey, escaping the turmoil in the Russian Empire at the end of the 19th century. Since the 1960s many families migrated to Germany and Austria. Most still keep their houses in Hayriye where the return in the summer time. I was born in Hayriye on 6 July 1968. |
